Messi, Suarez and Neymar: How 'MSN' helped Barcelona dominate Spain

Suarez joined Messi and Neymar at Barcelona in 2014, after a superb three-and-a-half-season spell at Liverpool. The trio instantly formed a deadly attack that came to be known as 'MSN', reflecting the formation in which they played as it was written on a team sheet (Messi right, Suarez middle, Neymar left).

Following the exit of Tata Martino at the end of the 2013/14 season, the trio shone for three campaigns under Luis Enrique, winning two La Liga titles, three Copas del Rey and the Spanish Supercopa.

Barcelona also won the 2015 UEFA Champions League, completing the treble of league, domestic cup and European title in a single season for the first time since 2009 under Pep Guardiola. They also won the subsequent UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup that year.

Neymar's decision to join PSG in 2017 broke up the trio, the Brazilian moving to Ligue 1 for a world-record transfer fee of €222 million ($263m). Yet their achievements at Camp Nou were not forgotten.

In 2014/15, during Barca's treble triumph, 'MSN' netted a scarcely believable 122 goals across all competitions. Their combination play and chemistry was immense, with the following season featuring a domestic double, as the goal tally somehow moved up to 131.

It was also the sole campaign were Suarez outscored Messi, with 59 compared to 41, but their final campaign as a trio saw a drop off.

No La Liga or Champions League title ultimately saw Luis Enrique and Neymar both move on as the goal number dropped to 111.

Luis Suarez trophies: Career honours at Barcelona, Liverpool, others

Suarez won the Uruguayan league title in 2006 prior to making the move to Europe to join Ajax.

A key role in an Eredivisie title win in Amsterdam persuaded Liverpool to swoop for him in January 2011 and he scored 82 goals in 122 games on Merseyside.

However, his time at Anfield only yielded an EFL Cup title in 2012, his spectacular individual performances in 2013/14 taking them close to an elusive Premier League title only for Manchester City to win that race by two points.

Suarez was significantly more successful at Barcelona, where he won 13 major titles before moving to Atletico Madrid in 2020, having beenpushed out of Barca's first-team picture by manager Ronald Koeman.

More determined than ever, Suarez scored 21 league goals and Diego Simeone's side clinched the La Liga title. The striker was seen crying on the pitch following their triumph.

He also won theCampeonato Gaucho and theRecopa Gaucha at Gremio alongside the 2011 Copa America with Uruguay.
